After a long-awaited return, our annual charity Golf Day took place on Friday the 5th August 2022, at Wickham park golf club. In aid of Naomi House & Jacksplace, we gathered a number of Hampshire’s finest golf enthusiasts and embarked on a glorious day of Golfing.
With a bright and early start, the golfers arrived on site, registered, and sussed out the course with breakfast in hand, eagerly awaiting the briefing before being let loose on the course. Once all golfers had arrived at their designated starting holes, the Clackson sounded, and the fierce competition began.
As the golfers made their way around the course, they also had the opportunity of participating in mini-challenges, including: Longest Drive, Nearest the Pin, Buy the Drive, Marshmallow and Hole in 1.
The excitement around the challenges added a vibrant buzz to the air, as the gleam of the Hole in 1 car prize glistened on the 10th Hole, and the determination to win could be seen in the marshmallow challenge, as participants shot giant marshmallows flying across the course!
After several hours, the golf round came to a close, with some participants heading straight back to the clubhouse to reward themselves with a refreshing drive and others heading off to hole 9 to watch the Golf Entertainment display. Jeremy Dale hosted the display, demonstrating incredible trick shots, including hitting with both clubs, balancing on an exercise ball and much more, whilst providing some top tips along the way, and there was even some audience participation!
Then it was back to the clubhouse for a spot of lunch and networking and to squeeze in some last-minute raffle ticket purchases before a couple of presentations.
Whilst soaking up the sunshine on the patio, Naomi House explained their work and the incredible difference that fundraising provides to their children and young adults, which was both humbling and inspiring. An important reminder to what the whole day was all about.
We then heard from our sponsors, Beyond Encryption, and Silver Linings managing director, Allan.
Then the long-awaited prize giving kicked off! Starting with the raffle, with amazing prizes kindly donated by local businesses.
We then moved to the challenge prizes and hosted the final for the Buy the Drive competition by using the adjacent putting green to host a nearest the pin competition to determine the overall winner.
We then moved to the final prizes, the suspense built, and the pairs for 1st & 2nd place were announced and presented with their lovely shiny trophies.
Just before everyone collected their goody bags and headed off with prizes in hand, the final total was announced: £3,890!!!
It was an incredible day for an amazing charity, and we are so grateful for everyone who supported us, and all our wonderful sponsors! We can’t wait till next year!
