On Friday, the 16th of June, PETA held their Apprentice Employer of the Year awards evening at the Portsmouth Guildhall. The sun was shining, and the team were in high spirits as we were shortlisted for Best Apprenticeship Employer (SME).

The evening started with an engaging networking exercise, allowing guests to mingle and connect with fellow nominees. It was an excellent chance to exchange insights and ideas, learning about each other's businesses and initiatives in the local community. The lively atmosphere encouraged meaningful conversations to flow, setting the stage for a memorable and inspiring event.

Following a warm welcome, we were escorted to our nominated table, where we were treated to a delicious meal which would set us up to enjoy the rest of the evening.

The highly-anticipated moment had finally arrived - the awards ceremony was about to begin, and we eagerly awaited the results. Our category, Best Apprentice Employer of the Year (SME), was particularly challenging this year, with 9 other outstanding nominees vying for the top spot. Nonetheless, our team remained optimistic and focused, knowing that our hard work and commitment to excellence had brought us this far. As the winner was announced, we were thrilled to hear our name called out as the victor!

This recognition highlights our dedication to nurturing talent and providing exceptional growth opportunities. Here at Silver Lining, we ensure that everyone feels part of the family, creating an open and honest workplace.

Suella Braverman MP has previously commented: "Silver Lining is a great company where Apprentices can learn great skills, be part of an exciting team and earn a good wage. Thank you to the team for nurturing the next generation of professionals." Silver Lining is proud of its apprentice retention rate, and 99.9% of apprentices who finish their studies stay with us, often progressing in their careers and within the business.

Our training scheme for new starters mimics a mentoring scheme – where the employee will have 1-1 reviews with the manager to voice any concerns, areas needed for improvement and achievements. These aspects are why we believe we give apprentices the best start to their careers, which now can be proven through winning this award.

A huge thank you to PETA for this accolade and to our excellent apprentices who inspire us daily!

We were also lucky to sponsor an award this year to show our commitment to developing the next generation of talent in the workplace.

Silver Lining will always strive to offer our employers the best opportunities to allow for their personal growth to help build the company. We will enter many more awards this year to showcase more of the excellent hard work we do within Silver Lining and the community.
